Caucasian Shepherd Dog
The Caucasian Shepherd "Ovcharka" is an ancient breed. The ancient Caucasians were telling stories not just about wolfs' skirmishes, the word "Volkodav" also states exactly what role they were given, as well as stories about the participation of this dog in warfare. They have been used as a herd keeper, but also for hunting large animals (bears, wolves, etc.).
In the countries of the former Soviet Union, today, they used as working dogs in their natural enviroment, as flocks keepers or as guardians. They also trained by police, for tough missions and by private security companies for space guarding and bodyguards.
The Caucasian Shepherd is characterized by a clearly expressed active-defensive reaction (aggression), which is always hereditary. They are impressive in size, inspiring respect and strength, well-developed muscles and strong bones, while at the same time they are fast enough.
The Caucasian Shepherd is a dog of a leading character. By nature, he learns to keep the space he trusts, and this is better than everyone else. It is a war machine that becomes dangerous for those who do not know its proper handling. It is friendly to the family members it belongs to, but it is not available to accept particular pressure or treatment, without reaction. It is difficult to subordinate and this is something that needs special attention from its aspiring owners. It does not retreat to any threat or danger, even if it needs to pay it with life, but in those cases it will not easily obey the owner because it acts as a war machine.
Nevertheless, it develops strong ties with family members and especially with a person who will choose, but very rarely will submit and blindly follow the instructions, always relying on its own judgment and instinct, that many times will lead it to ignore their commands, but always depending on the particular situations it faces.
